"Nez frais, citronné, agrumes, bouche dense, bonne intensité, assez long, un bon classique."

Petit Chablis

Prix d'Excellence

Lifted and intense citus aroma. Lively rather than intense on the palate but the balance between creamy texture and bright acidity is just right. 16.5/20

Petit Chablis La Perle

This does smell more creamy and little more intense than the above. Higher acidity but also a little more dense so that the balance is maintained. lemon and lime freshness and generous in the mouth then drawn in nicely on the finish. Lightly chalky texture. 16/20

Delicate zesty citrus and hint of celery. Benchmark Petit Chablis. Lightish but has all the stony freshness of the region. Well sustained, too. Nicely dusty character on the nose. Super- fresh and dry. 16/20

Chablis Grand Cru Vaudésir

Presse anglaise - par Julia Harding MW journaliste de Jancis Robinson

Very inviting - chalky, spicy but with the wet-stones of Chablis to the fore, supported by creamy lemon and grapefruit pure freshness. The oak barely shows, perhaps more in texture. Zesty and persistent. 17/20

Bill Nansen, tasting, Feb 16

A little more depth, an almost vibrant aromatic – this is different. A certain softness on the palate, a width of melting flavour. This has the form but a rather primary delivery today – most impressive in the width of the finish – super persistent. I have very high expectations after the first wines, and the aromas and finish of this wine meets those, but today the palate is guarded and not showing the clarity of the rest of this wine – or any of the others. To wait for…

Presse anglaise - par Julia Harding MW journaliste de Jancis Robinson

More spicy and a little less open and fruity than the 2015. Tight and linear on the palate. Persistent and intense whithout specific fruit flavours. Creamy, cedary finish. Worth waiting a litlle longer for this one to become more complex. 16.5 + /20

Chablis Vieilles Vignes

Bill Nansen, tasting Feb 2016.

The family nose is here augmented with a hint of something floral, perfumed… A little more density, intensity too. Much more mineral – a wine to wait a little time for, but really a lovely balance – sitting perfectly on the palate – to wait for, but super!

Bill Nansen, tasting Feb 2016

Almost a family nose that’s wide and very fine and clear – super interesting though with modest depth. More direct, fine, almost a texture of tannin here. Slowly growing wider – the mineral intensity has no aggression – it simply just tastes great.

Petit Chablis La Perle

Bill Nansen, tasting Jan 2016

A wider, different shaped bottle. Pale lemon-yellow colour. Pretty if rather tight nose, just the faintest citrus reference. In the mouth this is lovely – growing acid-led intensity, roundness, and an engaging complexity. Lovely in the finish too. Excellent!

Bill Nansen, tasting Fab 2016

Also fresh, bright, seemingly precise but tight aromas all at the same time. Wider, finer textured, with flavour delivered in waves, this is more like a very tasty Chablis. Excellent

Petit Chablis

Bill Nansen, tasting Jan 2016

Medium-pale, lemon yellow. Deep and round yet rather modest nose, just a little faint spice impression. Round with fine shape and a growing acidity that’s never aggressive. Pretty flavours that quickly fade – but can be equally quickly topped up! Another that’s very good!

Bill Nansen, tasting Feb 2016

This wine sees elevage for the same length of time as the 1er cru. Normally it is bottled in June/July, but if there’s some commercial pressure, maybe a small part will be bottled and shipped earlier – usually there are 2 bottlings – June and after the harvest.
Wide and fresh with faint pretty notes of citrus. Lovely, lively fruit flavour – very fine in the mouth – reminds me of childhood fruit sweets – but not in any facile way. Very tasty wine. Yum!

Chablis 1er Cru Vaucoupin

Vinified in stainless steel, like most Chablis, this lovely wine shines from the outset with its smoothness and the purity of its bouquet; delicate and defined by the characteristic note of minerality. We salivate. In the mouth, the flavors are spicy -- quite something for a Chablis (it is the vintage that speaks), everything is well balanced, all of the acidity one could ever desire is present, and there is a long finish. Very good wine. Keep: 2014-2016.

Comments: A Tonnerre estate establish by a family that came from Beauce in the 80s. Since 2002, the two sons watch over the fifteen hectares.

This wine rings true and is flawless. The first notes on the nose are floral and fresh, followed by exotic fruit and spices. In the mouth, the wine is straightforward, supple and with good minerality, and does justice to the clay-limestone "terroir".

This easy to drink Chardonnay caresses the palate with its finesse and its elegance. Perfectly Chablis, concluded one person during a tasting. The "terroir" is very evident and it is a lovely, round, well constructed wine with a long finish.

The terroir is highlighted, the wine is pretty, round, worked well with a lingering finish.

It is the most humble of the four appellations of Chablis. Regardless, it can give, as in this case, very good results. Light in color with a greenish tinge, this un-oaked Chablis has a bouquet that is clean, expressive and delivers the characteristic note of minerality. Quite tasty, and what we do not expect of this appellation, the flavors are straightforward and spicy due to a little carbonic gas. And, there is character. Was I too generous? I do not believe so. Keep: 2013-2017.

A remarkable Chablis from the most modest of the Chablis appellations (Petit Chablis), that can have one assuming it is a Chablis or even a Chablis 1er Cru. Of a color that has greenish highlights, its bouquet is delicate, un-oaked, fine, incisive, with a note of minerality frequently found in wines from this vineyard. Flavors are spicy, clean, vivid; giving this wine a lot of character. A great vintage.

One of my favourite Chablis producers year in, year out.The wines are always on the leaner side of the spectrum, where minerality dominates.Even in a ripe year like 2009, the signature shows. No excessive mid-palate fat -- just great, refreshing and easy-drinking Chablis.Serve a t 8C. Drink now-2013. Food pairing ideas: apéritif, lobster.

Comments: Concentrated aromas and finesse are what Paterne and Baudouin are looking for. They took over the estate in 2002 from their father. The what is going on in the mouth, drives this wine. It is very lively and tight without concession. An indication that it is perfect with seafood.

Score: 14.5/20 - Very good wine

Comments: A rare firmness and freshness for a vintage that was expected to develop like a chalky Chablis. Solid and easy to drink. Will evolve well in 2 years.

La Presse Newspaper (Québec) - By Jacques Benoit

Some producers in Chablis deplore the existence of Petit Chablis, the most humble of the appellations. Do not ruin our pleasure! Petit Chablis has what we like; a fine bouquet with a the characteristicmineral note, very Chablis, and it enchants. Light, its flavors are pure and enhanced by a certain quality of carbonic gas. Delicious. 12%
